Apprenticeship Program Requirements (SSN & ITIN Accepted)
Ready to join the top barber and beauty academy in the Inland Empire? If you meet the criteria below, you are ready to start earning your hours:
- At least sixteen (16) years of age
- Social security number (SSN) or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN)
- Available to commit to a minimum of 32 hours per week
- Semi-experienced or experienced in barbering or cosmetology, or have completed the Five Star Academy Beginner and Intermediate Training Course in Barbering or Cosmetology

How Our Barber & Cosmetology Apprenticeship Training Works
An apprenticeship combines practical experience with training to prepare you for a barber or cosmetology license. Overseen by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship, our program pairs on-the-job work with instruction. Guided by experienced instructors, you’ll learn techniques and best practices needed to make you a well-rounded professional in a salon or barbershop.
The Apprenticeship Program Duration
Our apprenticeship runs for 18 to 24 months and includes three main parts for a balanced learning approach:
- A 5-hour health and safety course completed on orientation day.
- Part-time or full-time work in a salon or shop to practice skills and earn income.
- A weekly 4-hour classroom session, offered in the morning, afternoon, or evening to fit your availability.
Once you complete the required hours, you’ll be eligible to take the State Board Exam for your barber or cosmetology license.
